Start Your CPR and First Aid Training in Massachusetts

Knowing CPR and First Aid can make the difference in the first few minutes of an emergency, before paramedics arrive. Whether your job requires a current CPR card or you simply want to be ready at home, the right training gives you the skills and the confidence to act.

At One Health and Beyond in Stoughton, MA, we teach ASHI CPR, AED and First Aid courses for childcare staff, direct care workers, home health aides, workplace safety teams, parents and community members across Norfolk County and the Greater Boston area.

Every class is hands-on. You practice chest compressions, rescue breathing and AED use on training equipment with an instructor beside you, and you leave with an ASHI certification card that is valid for two years.

This guide explains which course fits your role, how in-person and hybrid classes work, what you will learn, and how to get certified.

Who Needs CPR and First Aid Certification

Most of our students come to us because an employer, program or license requires a current CPR card. Others simply want to protect their family.

Childcare and Early Education Staff

Daycare, preschool and after-school teams usually need pediatric CPR and First Aid. The adult, child and infant course covers both.

Direct Care and Group Home Staff

Many employers require a current CPR card along with MAP certification. Review the MAP requirements to plan both.

Home Health Aides and Caregivers

Pair CPR with our Home Health Aide training so you are ready for an emergency in a client's home.

Workplace Safety Teams

Designated first aid responders in offices, warehouses, retail stores and job sites where quick action matters.

Coaches, Trainers and Teachers

Anyone responsible for groups of people during practices, workouts, classes or events.

Parents and Grandparents

Learn infant and child CPR and choking relief so you know exactly what to do if an emergency happens at home.

Need BLS for a Hospital or Clinical Job?

This course is CPR and First Aid, not BLS for healthcare providers. Hospitals and many clinical roles require BLS specifically, and we do not offer BLS. Read CPR vs BLS: which one do you need before you register.

About ASHI CPR and First Aid Certification

The American Safety and Health Institute, known as ASHI, is part of the Health and Safety Institute, or HSI. HSI is one of the largest CPR and first aid training organizations in the United States, along with the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.

ASHI courses are based on current international resuscitation and first aid science, follow OSHA best practice guidance for workplace first aid programs, and are accepted by thousands of employers, licensing boards and regulatory agencies across many occupations.

HSI is gradually bringing its training brands under one name, so some certification cards may show the HSI name along with or instead of ASHI. The certification is the same.

Your class is taught at One Health and Beyond, founded by Jocelyne Destine, FNP-C, PMHP-C, DNP, a nurse practitioner and educator with more than ten years of clinical and teaching experience. Learn more about our founder.

FAQs

How long is an ASHI CPR and First Aid certification valid?

Your ASHI certification card is valid for two years from the date you complete the course. Renew before it expires to avoid a gap in coverage at work.

Is ASHI accepted the same as American Heart Association or Red Cross?

For most workplace, childcare and community requirements, yes. ASHI is widely accepted by employers and regulatory agencies. Hospitals and some clinical roles specifically require AHA BLS, so confirm your requirement first. Our CPR vs BLS guide explains the difference.

Can I get CPR certified completely online?

No. You can complete the knowledge portion online in our hybrid format, but CPR and First Aid skills must be practiced and checked in person before a card is issued.

Which course do I need for a daycare or preschool job?

Childcare staff usually need pediatric CPR and First Aid. The Adult, Child and Infant CPR, AED and First Aid course covers both. Confirm the exact requirement with your program director.

Do I need medical experience to take the class?

No. The course is designed for people with no medical background. You should be able to kneel on the floor to practice chest compressions.

Do I need CPR for MAP or HHA jobs?

Many direct care and home care employers ask for a current CPR card. If you are training for MAP certification or Home Health Aide training, adding CPR can make you ready to start sooner.

Do you offer BLS for healthcare providers?

No. We offer ASHI CPR, AED and First Aid. If your employer requires BLS for Healthcare Providers, you will need a BLS course from another provider.

Can you train our staff at our location?

Yes. We offer group and on-site CPR and First Aid training for daycares, group homes, agencies and businesses. Contact us to plan a date.
